Pop-up
shops have come some way since Target put that first container
ship-store onto the Hudson River back in 2002 and
Rei Kawakubo took Comme
des Garçons to Barcelona in 2004. |
 |
Now,
of course, they're used to peddle anything from mineral
water to cars. Or shopping malls, like the Fashion
Pop Up at Maremagnum, where bypassers look curiously
at the designer threads and the artistic EX-Studio
installation - before popping into H&M to actually
buy something.
If shooting for something a bit more alternative then
head for El Vestidor, where twelve designers, most of
them emerging, show all weekend in the private confines
of the home of Carlitos and Patricia. Alright, it's
more of a work-living space, but still, this is Barcelona,
where you can live for decades without being invited
in to someone's house.

 |
No
telling whether it'll be any easier to haggle
in such a friends & family setting, but if
not, then at least you can ask to use the loo
- a rarity in our fair city that has shops a plenty,
but a serious shortage of public washrooms.
El
Vestidor, Portaferrisa 25, 1-1, Barrio
Gótico
Friday 11-20h - ask for an invite by email.
Saturday & Sunday 11-20h - free entry
