use of chemical additives, we're frankly more concerned
about the risk of wallet shock. |

Blame
it on biofuels, the euro, or greedy owners, but eating
out is becoming seriously expensive. Grab a latte and
a muffin anywhere decent, and you're lucky if you get
change from a 50. Sure, we could dig in and tighten
our belts. Or we could just head out in search of the
best lunch bargain.
For a deliciously palatable bill, start with Saüc,
where Xavier Franco, who trained at Àbac
and Racó
de Can Fabes, offers a bargain lunchtime menu for
just EUR 20, or sample Jordi Vilà's Michelin-starred
magic at Alkimia for EUR 32.

the budget to EUR 39, and put Mey Hoffman's gourmet
students to work in their new uptown space in
the former Laurak. At the same price, venture
to the dining room upstairs at delicatessen shop
Can Ravell, and you're in for one of lunchtime's
best kept secrets.
Dig in to your heart's content and, assuming
you go relatively easy on the wine, you'll be
left with more than enough change for dinner.
