It
shouldn’t come as a surprise that the one Andalusian
thing that's been taken to heart here in Catalunya is
the flamenco - one of the few times you’ll see our
Southern cousins working up a sweat from physical exercise. |
 |
Of
course, when your own national dance consists of bouncing
in a circle, anybody would embrace the passion and fervour
of flamenco. Still, there's no denying that there are
plenty of options for a spot of cante, toque and flourished
skirt-swirling around town.
The De Cajón Flamenco Festival has taken up
the baton after the excellent Flamenco de Nou Barris
and Ciutat Vella festivals, but these auditorium-style
performances can often be a little dull and formal.
Instead, you’ll find us at La [2]’s Flamenco
Ob-Sessions Monday nighters.
|
 |
These
intimate, laid-back sessions are back for a second
summer season, offering a more modern spin on
the genre in an informal setting, with improvisation
and showcases of newcomers. Grab a drink and get
comfortable.
