"Only
for locals," I used to smugly tell the bemused on-looking
tourists, as I'd wave my Bicing card over the reader to
take out one those shiny red bikes. I'd leave others waving
their VISAs for hours, having told them that it works
with any credit card. |
 |
The
last laugh might be one me though. If it's not the saddle
mysteriously sliding down, then the gear is stuck in
first or, worse, that infuriating 'no bikes available'
greeting message at a station full of bikes. Maybe it's
time to climb back into a four-wheel vehicle.
Hardly the PC option in these green days but car sharing
scheme Avancar has quietly grown to a fleet of over
100 low emission vehicles. For a yearly membership of
EUR 30, usage is charged at just around EUR 3 per hour.
Can you even get into a taxi for that these days?
|
 |
With
a EUR 0.30 kilometer fee on top, you wouldn't
necessarily want to use it for a cross-country
road trip, but with fuel, roadside assistance
and insurance included, there are no nasty hidden
extras. Buckle up.
Avancar
Annual membership from EUR 30 + deposit of EUR
100
Usage fee from EUR 2.90 per hour plus EUR 0.29
