| We
can't help but be quite impressed by certain people's
ability to live out their wildest fantasies and get away
with it (that's you, Hef). |
|
Now,
don't think - not even for a moment - that we're at
all in awe because Alonso gets to race fast cars every
weekend or, say, because David Bisbal has teens fainting
by the droves. A fortunate series of events and a fair
dose of talent, we'd say. But we're not that impressed.
Dov Charney, however, does impress us. Founder and
CEO of American Apparel, he's managed to turn soft porn
marketing into the epitome of 'hipster cool'; masturbate
in front of a journalist (seriously)
and somehow come out of it looking even 'hipper'; shamelessly
engage in serial relationships with employees (bonding?);
host wet t-shirt contests in company flats (brainstorming?);
and the list goes on. And now he's finally opening his
first Spanish store. Right here in Barcelona.

We'll
be heading down to the store, without a doubt.
Partly to stock up on some of those sweatshop-free
cotton staples that we'd otherwise have to go
abroad for. But mostly to place bets on which
of the employees were hired for , ahem, 'personal'
motives.
