Mirror, Who's the Fairest of Them All? |
|
|
|
Obviously
all fairs aren't created equal. 100 million euros
is what this week's edition of Bread & Butter,
the biannual preening and chest-thumping exercise for
brands, is expected to generate for our fair city. |
|
That
may be less than the 140 million that the Mobile World
Congress – the engineers with the ill-fitting
suits back in February, remember? - put in our coffers,
but at times style trumps numbers and the B&B crowd
at least make interesting, if not high maintenance,
viewing.
This weekend's two fairs make no pretense of grandeur
though, instead promising fashion from young designers,
DJs and concerts. Mercadillo at Convent Sant Agustí
adds projections and live art installations to the mix,
while Lost & Found in Barceloneta dishes up paella,
sardines and a chance to set up your own stall. |
|
Visitors
are unlikely to be of the high-rolling kind, but
it could help you get rid of last season's
misbuys or take advantage of somebody else's.
So, numbers? No. Style? Perhaps. Fun? Guaranteed.
