Ladies Who Lunch |
|
|
|
Restaurants that close for dinner are strange beasts -isn't that when business is briskest? Yet the last few months have seen a couple of openings that close shop well before dusk. |
|
The
key, of course, is to attract a crowd that isn't afraid
to drop an extra penny, and Rouras
and Nuclo
- both recent additions that forego dinner - are doing
well with the suited crowd. Businessmen can be terribly
stale company though, so a third opening, Le Bimbe,
has opted for that other mid-day core segment, the ladies
who lunch.
And for that segment, nothing whets the appetite like a bit of shopping, so taking a page from the book of Nicole Farhi - one of the first to master the art of persuading customers to take home a whiff of lunch with their new sweater - it has both fashion collections and home decoration to go with its Tuscany-inspired menu |
|
Corso Como 10, L'Eclaireur or Colette it's not, but if you need a place with an understanding crowd to discuss the merits of a second boob job or bitch about botched highlights, then you may have found a new home for the afternoon.
