| The
sun may be shining less than usual this year, but I for
sure ain't. For goodness sake, I catch my co-workers checking
out their reflections on my forehead. I could probably
be tracked down by the trail of grease marks left across
town. |

Yes,
in the summer humidity, I shine. I'll take a shower,
but in the muggy little sweatbox that I call home, I'm
in need of another before having dried off from the
first. I need baths in plural. Like the newly opened
Aire de Barcelona.
There the Sevillan Aire group has, with a helping hand
from the Alonso-Balaguer architects, converted an old
warehouse in El Born into a modern Arab bath house,
where you're taken for a tour through the various hot,
cold, and salt water pools. Steam rooms, Vichy showers,
relaxation zones and massage rooms round it off.

The
interior is lush - think black granite and quartz
blended in with the existing brick and stone walls
- and the hours are user friendly: When they kick
me out at 2am, there's only eight hours to go
before they'll let this grease machine back in
again.
