Me,
Me, Me! |

Apparently
a third of all divorces are produced from the strain of
cheesy vacation smiles and facing your partner in broad
daylight. So check in for a bit of post-holiday me-time
at, yes, ME. |
|
The
rates at this new luxury boutique hotel from Sol Meliá
(I know, Meliá - luxury? Boutique? What happened
to this bastion of mediocrity?) that now occupies Dominique
Perrault's anorexic Tetris piece in Poble Nou,
aren't exactly conducive to single occupancy,
but then you aren't expected to stay single for
long here.
Having brought in American nightlife mogul Rande Gerber
- better known for bagging Cindy Crawford among the
non-Martini sipping set - to run the generously named
sixth-floor Penthouse Pool Lounge & Chocolate
Bar, it is hoped that the young and beautiful party
crowd will soon be rubbing shoulders with guests. |
|
Closer
to the top, twin brothers and gastro chefs Javier
and Sergio Torres, responsible for bringing vacuum
cooking onto this world, serve up nosh at the
24th-floor Dos Cielos, with homegrown
herbs from the hotel's rooftop garden.
Barcelona hardly needs another five star hotel
- another ten are scheduled to open over the next
two years - but who's to complain in this
part of town. Me?
ME
by Meliá - now open
Pere IV 272-286, Poble Nou - 93 367 2050
