An
Acquired Taste |
|
|
|
Great
things have come out of Great Britain - The Sex Pistols,
Vivienne Westwood and Martin Amis spring to mind, just
to mention a few - but food isn't one of them, unless
you consider bangers and mash a culinary triumph. |
|
Few
do here, if the gapingly empty food aisles at Plaça
Catalunya's Marks & Spencer (RIP) were anything
to go by. Maybe it was simply that people felt that
a brand selling suits and knickers had no business making
curries and egg & mayo sarnies, too, but the fact
remains that it was only ever busy at the closing fire
sale.
Since then, expats and anglophiles have been relying
on trips home or visiting relatives to stock up on custard
and shortbread cookies, but now they'll only have to
venture to Sant Antoni where A Taste of Home has set
up shop.
|
|
It's
no Marks & Sparks - it's small and looks more
like your local Pakistani than purveyors to HM
Lizzie - but it's well stocked with both dry and
frozen foods from Blighty. Tea, anyone?

Taste of Home -now open
