Legendary Princess Di hangout, festooned with moody David Bailey prints and frequented by rock royalty, Le Caprice serves brunch from 11.30am until 4pm on Saturdays (from July 14) and Sundays. It's impeccably civilised, and reassuringly old school, serving eggs Arlington (eggs Benny, basically), steak tartare, Caesar salad and the famous salmon fishcakes. From July, a new brunch menu is launching. The bacon, egg and foie gras muffin with hash browns sounds like an instant classic. As do the Bloody Mary pitchers.

Top Tip:

It's worth trying for a walk-in and asking for a seat at the counter if there are two of you and you're in the mood for perching.
