Verbier - Switzerland
A tax haven for the flasharatti, but there's still some soul.
If you like a bit of glitz with your snow (I know we do!) then Verbier's a good one for you. With nightlife that includes events like hed kandi nights at the known- to- be- naff- but- still- popular Farm, people who come have nightlife firmly on the agenda. They also, however, have very deep pockets - with top tier cocktails coming in at £5K; this is no playground for the poor. But as this is a first class ski/snowboard resort, and part of the Four Valleys, expect ample lifts (there are 35 that cover the Verbier area), and a range of 'runs' with a fair share of steeps. And people here still do come to ski. It's not all glamour either - prices may be steep, but locals insist that Verbier still has a rough-around-the-edges charm.
