National Dance Company of Korea - Scent of Spring
February 21st 2010
Chunhyang, whose name means "scent of spring", is a beautiful young woman who often appears in Korean folk tales. Born to a mother who is a kisaeng, a traditional Korean courtesan, she falls in love with Mongryong, the son of an aristocratic family.
Their story of star-crossed love, trial and redemption becomes a world-class piece of dance theatre in the National Dance Company of Korea's ravishing The Scent of Spring. Choreographed by Jung-hye Bae, this national treasure, 50 years in the making, reveals and updates the glamorous, delicate artistry of traditional Korean dance.
