Momo's cheaper, boho sister, the tearoom is an adjunct of the restaurant - a
more casual way to savour some delectable cocktails and rounds of backgammon.
Cushion strewn, hip and perfectly poised for people watching, the Tearoom is
a sliver of a venue So self-consciously tacky that it works - Mahiki wouldn't
be out of place in Chelsea, but works so much better for being in town. A Tiki-themed,
two floored drinking spot from Piers Adam, the first floor's a more sedate lounge
type affair for lapping up the strong cocktail list (waitress service, of course)
served in an eye-opening array of voodoo heads et al, while downstairs is a
club space, complete with fish tanks and swathes of plants.
Hours: Mon-Sat. 5:30pm-3:30am
Cover: Free before 9:30pm, Thurs/Fri. £10 after 9:30pm,
Sat. £15 after 9:30pm
Guestlist: No
Food: Finger food served until 11pm
Crowd: Swaying Sloanes; near-naked coquettes and other skittish
ponies.
Special nights: Wed: Yellow Brick Road Night, come dressed
up as the Wizard of Oz (or, failing the man himself, a character from the film)..
Hot tip: Wait patiently and you will get in. After that, all
that's left is to work your way through the cocktail list - a veritable Yellow
Brick Road in itself, it's a snip at £5,000.
