Addicted to Ibiza’s White Isle Gem – Restaurant 2000
Sunset without a DJ in sight
“A hectic weeklong Ibiza schedule of hip restaurants and achingly cool bars can leave you yearning for something a little simpler. When we need a break from house music and the scene in general, we get in the car and head north to Benirrás beach. Sundays aside, Benirrás is a quiet bay, and the family-run fish shack Restaurant 2000 at the end of the beach is the perfect spot to while the day. Expect a casual affair, with fresh grilled fish, ice-cold Cava and local specialities. As you recharge you can relax and watch the sun go down without a DJ in sight.”

RA’s Sunset Pick – Sunset Ashram
Sundown with a side of music |
“If you like your sunset with a side of music, Sunset Ashram is our pick. A relaxed bar on the Western most point of the island, it’s a brilliant place to watch the sunset, take in the tunes, and order something from their fresh dinner menu. Get there a few hours before sunset and enjoy a swim and the tiny beaches around the venue.” Open from 10am-12pm daily.

The launch party for the third edition of this annual ‘urban’ showcase where fashion, music and art melt together in a single hotpot of designers, cracking DJs and bands, and an in-house gallery (that already has an A-list following). In tonight’s edition the catwalk show is Felder Felder - Daniela and Annette Felder’s London-based label - with DJ set by UJ Insider Arthur Baker. There’s a charity element to the whole thing too, and art is available to buy on the night, so make sure to bring your wallet.

UJ Ibiza Guide Highlight – Lío |
Super-stylish loungebar-cum-supperclub
Pacha’s new hotspot, Lío, is on the site that was formerly El Divino (a club we’re not sad to see the back of!) and is being touted as Pacha’s new pre-venue. This place is huge, and looks like something suited to a Bond film with its sexy slickness, low-slung seating, robata grill, champagne on tap and unrivalled waterside setting.

My Ibiza – Ben Turner |
Urban Junkies speaks to Ben Turner of Ibiza’s IMS about his Ibiza
“I first visited Ibiza in the summer of 1992. I had only been on holiday to Tenerife, Gran Canaria previously where only two clubs played any acceptable music (Bobbys in Tenerife; Twilights in Gran Canaria). But I fell in love with hot sun, hot girls and hot music! It was irresistible. But those places were not for me. I was a music head. I was in love with progressive music and one night in 1991 I managed to catch a TV show on C4 called A Short Film About Chilling. It changed my life. I could not believe there was an entire island dedicated to the Balearic music I was enjoying. ”
