When two brothers decide to work together it can all go horribly wrong. Just look at Matt and Luke Goss’s bankruptcy terminated pop career, or the Kray and Mitchell Brothers Eastend crime sprees. However siblings Chris and Jeff Galvin hope to buck the trend with their first solo restaurant. |

Their new 'bistrot de luxe', simply named Galvin, opens today and its seven-day opening hours mean that you’ll always find an afore-named chef on site. With a combined cooking experience of nearly 50 years, it's obvious that Chris - most recently executive chef at The Wolseley - and Jeff - who worked with Marco Pierre White at The Oak Room - know their way around a kitchen (both have worked at Michelin starred haunts, too). But let's hope they get on professionally as diners will be able to watch them work in the half-open-to-view kitchen (let the games begin!). The interior has the requisite plush yet informal bistro vibe (leather banquettes, antiqued mirrors, dark slate flooring et al), and the menu is affordable classic French fare (think wood pigeon and venison). Which should ensure that the brothers continue to earn
a crust through catering rather than pubescent pop proffering or gangland
warfare. |
