Today sees the opening of the Peter Blake exhibition at the newly launched Eyestorm Britart Gallery on Charing Cross Road (previously on Maddox Street). |

Sir Peter Blake - grandfather of British pop art (you remember the Sergeant Pepper's cover art?) - isn't doing badly for a bloke well into his seventies. The show is from his Alphabet series, an eclectic collection of screenprints demonstrating his inherent sense of humour. A perfect lunch-hour jaunt to jolly you up from the October doldrums. Side note: you probably remember Eyestorm as one of the great dot.com ideas, a little before their time. They seem to have reinvented themselves as old media: a bricks and mortar offline gallery (hours are from ten till six weekdays). It happens to us all. (Okay, it happened to them awhile ago, but this gallery transfer means they're sticking. One foot on, one foot off, we like it.) And if you really get the Blake bug, you'll need to dash up to the new Sir Peter Blake Music Art Gallery at the University of Leeds, whose permanent exhibition features fourteen examples of Blake's album sleeve art. "You're such a lovely audience, we'd like to take you home with us, we'd love to take you home". So - in the words of the Fab Four - we hope you'll enjoy the show.
