Be it a backlash against that dreadful Saatchi/painting fiasco, or just divine coincidence, but A/W 2005 yields arguably the most exciting art offering London's seen yet.

If you're not sensorially saturated by Frieze, Zoo, Affordable, Scope, Paul McCarthy, Jake and Dinos, Keinholz, Arbus and Emin (and that's just the contemporary stuff) then be sure to check out the newly-opened HOST gallery (read on to see where the name originates from).

A collaboration between top Photo Agency Panos and award-winning EI8HT magazine, who also happen to live upstairs, it's a showcase for some of the most compelling and inspirational photojournalism around. Think The Photographer's Gallery minus the red tape.

If you weren't among the pretty, chosen few to attend the launch party last week, then their first exhibition opens today. Entitled Bosnia, it's a little more uplifting than the name might suggest, as its striking and haunting images capture the country from war through to reconstruction.

I'd love to tell you more but I really must dash. I've got a date at the Barbican with some Nobuyoshi Araki prints.
