Tonight, dear friends, heralds the Hoxton launch of the UK's first ever classical music club night. Yes, that's right, electro beating, sweaty, scruffy Shoreditch is hosting a classic music night (the mullets are getting old you know). |

This Isn't For You, set in the Council Chamber of Shoreditch Town Hall (benefactor of a recent £2.3m refit), will deliver an hour of live chamber music and ambient film backdrops with classical DJs manning the decks in between. 'Concerto clubbers' will be encouraged to move between the concert hall, bar and gallery areas and engage with featured artists performing works from composers including Bach, Britten and Webern. On paper the night already delivers on two fronts: moving classical music away from its traditional elitist image (no tux, no Tchaikovsky) whilst also offering the increasingly bored locals a clubbing experience beyond the housed-up anthems they are used to. It also confirms that, when pushed, Shoreditch can still definitely deliver.
