And if you've been to Spitalfields lately, you'll have noticed that, so far, it's unfortunately going down a similar path. Which is why we felt a glimmer of hope when we stumbled upon Caravan. Caravan is where Emily Chalmers' love of interiors has come to rest (sorry). Being a successful interior photographic stylist and writer (can you say overachiever?) she has an eye for eclectic pieces, and her new shop pays tribute to this. Here you'll find unusual home furnishings including baroque chandeliers, hand-carved four-poster beds and mannequins in vintage British threads. And since none of it can be shamelessly reproduced, rest assured you won't find a Caravan on every high street near you. Now we just have to figure out what to do with that new Subway in Brixton...
