I like to eat as much as the next person. In fact, that's wrong. I like to eat a hell of a lot more than the next person. And I think cooking's a drag. Unless someone else is doing it. And so I eat out. All the frigging time. |

I work from home, so can't even cite low proximity to a kitchen as an excuse. I just love restaurants, prefer other people's handiwork and enjoy being served. But then along comes the curse of diner's palate, the hangover of the gourmand's world. You know that feeling you have when you've eaten out too much, saturated your tastebuds and clogged every last artery with butter and crème fraiche, and the thought of another dose of scallops, chateaubriand and fondant turns your tummy green? Which is why L proved such a refreshing alternative. Boasting an innovative Iberian menu, stunning glass roof and ownership by veteran restaurateur Eddy Lim, the offering features yummy stuff that won't leave that overindulgent aftertaste, but provides the gastro sensation all the same. Octopus sourced from Portugal, courgette flowers with a beetroot tempura and a cleansing cucumber sorbet to kickstart proceedings ensure that sickly feeling stays well at bay.
