There was a time when the mid life crisis was marked by a faster car and a partner upgrade, however these days men hitting the mark are throwing themselves into far more serious activities. With Father's Day just three days away, here are some suggestions on how to keep the old man busy. |

8th Day UK is a membership club aimed at city workaholics who want to keep their four pack for the second wife, or just get outside and do something a bit different. These 'crazy folk' plan activities ranging from walking with wolves and dodge ball to surf weekends, stunt riding and white water rafting. A more underground movement for the over forties is 'dad skating' which has sprung up at a famous skate park under the A40 flyover, where a group of 40 somethings from the city congregate to do their brainstorming and creative meetings on the ramps of the skate park. They are apparently the first generation of men who have skated all their lives (skateboarding having come to the fore in the early 70s) and they're not letting their age get in the way however embarrassing they may be to their kids. For the frequent flyers, who still like to think they're in the know, there's UrbanDaddy (cringe), a newsletter that - once he's accepted - notifies boys about all things hip'n'male in NYC and LA. So daddy's clubs. May not be sexy, but are seemingly harmless, and cheaper than a therapist, too.
