Living a couple of roads away from where the young David Jones grew up in Brixton, it has always surprised me that his old house doesn't have one of London’s blue plaques proudly embellished on it. David Jones was after all to become one of the most influential rock musicians ever in the form of David Bowie and his many alter egos. |

You'd find it hard to find another artist whose musical output has gone from mod to hippy to rock to glam to soul to electronic to pop. But that's exactly the ever-shifting creative ground the Bowie of the 60s, 70s and 80s covered before he sank into the quick sand of mediocrity following 1983's Let's Dance album. Those golden years are the period of his career to be worshipped at 'David', a celebration of all things Bowie at Shoreditch's Cube & Star where only productions written or performed by him between '74 to '84 will be played. The only problem is which Bowie to go as? Lightening-stripped Aladdin Sane; androgynous Ziggy Stardust or sharp-dressed Berlin-era Bowie. As long as it's not David as the Goblin King in Labyrinth, you should be ok. So put on your red shoes and dance the blues…
