If there are 100 million users of MySpace, and all of them have special gifts to share with us, then we must live in bloody talented times. |

New website ishouldbesolucky.com certainly thinks there are vast reservoirs of undiscovered talent out there. It aims to knock Simon Cowell off his perch, metaphorically speaking, by requesting that unsigned acts send in their demos so they can be ruthlessly exploited/groomed for stardom by producer Mike Stock (without whom we may not have had Kylie, kids) and his cohorts. The site allows artists to sell their songs, too, unlike
MySpace, and promises to ensure all royalties find their way to the
artists, not including the usual record company cut. If the internet
lottery doesn't grab you (or you just don't fancy being groomed by Mike
Stock!), then how about the chance to support Imogen Heap on her upcoming
UK tour. |

The artist, in conjunction with UK.MySpace.com, is inviting bands from each city on her tour to compete to be the support band for one night only. The tour climaxes in Camden's Roundhouse, and the chance to appear as the warm up for Miss Heap at this iconic venue is not to be sniffed at. Let's hope, for the sake of the audience, that there are some talented unknowns out there - otherwise you'd be very wise to hold your own pre-gig warm up in a nearby pub. |
