Beautification Project Week Eight When we started this, eight weeks ago, I was pretty sure I'd figure out a way to bail - or to wriggle out of it - before the eight weeks were up. I have been accused of having "commitment issues" in the area of exercise, but what Londoner wouldn't choose a quick pint over the gym? |

I guess I thought if I ever got fit, it would have to be all or nothing. Gym five times a week, wheatgrass and tofu diet, cigarettes and champagne binned - and that seemed much too daunting, if not impossible, for a single girl with a media career. So I never really put in the effort. The Lomax program seemed too good to be true, which is probably why I was willing to try it. I quite like proving people wrong. And, of course, it wasn't going to work, it never really had before. But looking back, all the exercise I did before was simply
faffing about in the gym - it involved a lot of magazine reading, the
lowest resistance on the bike, the occasional weight lift, maybe four
old-lady laps in the pool. A joke, really. I was bored senseless, and
no wonder, there was no I can honestly say, hand on heart, that this eight short weeks with Jonny has changed me; not just physically, but in the way I feel about myself, my stress levels, my confidence. I'm a lot stronger than I realised. Not just muscles, but psychologically. And that can’t help but not affect every area of your life. Jonny's method of training pushes you to the absolute
limit. My body is considerably firmer. But, even more, I've tested my
physical limits, and gotten a bit addicted to pushing myself that little
bit more each session. |

A personal trainer may seem terribly indulgent, but I'm keeping it up. It's going to be a struggle, but having come so far, I'm not ready to give up on my body. And, that alone, may be the biggest change of all. For more info on Lomax PT, check out www.lomaxpt.com |
