Like Paddington Basin, King's Cross is one of those areas that has never quite taken off despite being hyped to the hilt as the next promised land - and despite the fact that a lot of people, believing the hype, have moved there. |

No doubt the St Pancras development will give things a bit of a boost, but we think all the area really needs is a properly cool bar. Et voila, as if by magic, the grand druid of hip hangouts himself Richard Bigg - he of Cantaloupe, Cargo and Market Place fame - has appeared to show us how it's done. Bigg is genuinely passionate about Spain and all its pleasures, having a second home near the Sierra Nevada (read and learn, there's money in them there bars), so has taken it upon himself to bring them to the London massive. At his latest venture, Camino, expect your caña served in a
frozen glass accompanied by the finest tapas at the 35 meter pewter
bar, or linger longer, Spanish style, over something freshly grilled
from the parilla accompanied by a cheeky Rioja. |

And before you go add a snapshot/postcard/beer mat from your own travels in España to the map on the wall that acts as an ongoing living exhibit. Man, it's just like those happy days spent back-packing around San Sebastian. Camino
- opens to public Tuesday May 22 |
