Ditch all expectations of this band. They have very little to do with Scandinavia and they now don't even sound anything like their last album. |

Instead they are very much from Melbourne, Australia, which makes sense as their new album does have a touch of The Avalanches about it rather than the indie electronica they are known for. New single 'Heart It Races' is a glorious example of how inventive and contagious this band's creativity is. Rife with steel drums and whoops of joy, this is a life-affirming kaleidoscope of pop fun that places them somewhere between The Go Team! And Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. This and the forthcoming long-player 'Places Like This' were recorded
in Brooklyn by Yeah Yeah Yeah's engineer Chris Coady. Illustrator Will
Sweeny was also drafted in to visually match songwriter Cameron Bird’s
compelling and somewhat madcap falsetto-set lyrics. |

But the music is very much the real star of this show. It's loopy, lovely as hell, and noisily spectacular. Intricate, effervescent and electrical all at once, each track teams with ideas and zest. If the chameleon-like pop of The Avalanches appealed to you, Architecture In Helsinki's new album will sex-up your ears. Architecture
