When I started Eat Drink Talk last year, I was a little apprehensive about what my neighbours would think. I quietly hoped that no one would notice the regular groups of excited food-lovers ringing my doorbell every Tuesday and Wednesday or the sounds of people pounding quails or making coconut milk echoing in the corridors. |

Then last October, EDT was featured in an issue of Time Out on London's best cooking schools, and I realized that I couldn't keep it a secret from my neighbours forever. A few weeks ago, I sent an email inviting everyone in my building to come to a dinner party. Thinking no one would want to come, I promised a decadent menu of scallops and lobster. To my surprise, 17 people accepted and the party was on. It turned out to be a very fun and delicious evening, and I made a
five-course dinner including the three recipes below. It may be a little
ambitious to make all of these in a single evening, but even just choosing
one and keeping the other courses simple would still make for a fantastic
dinner. The key is to be organised, and have a well-topped up glass
of champagne in hand as you work.
