Pearls; not recently been very high on
our radar (bar the Chanel and Tiffany's strands, of course).
But when word came in about the exclusive Dover Street
Market pearl collaboration between Comme de Garçons
and Chrome Hearts (of goth and Lou Reed fame), pearls suddenly
felt very right.
And it's not only Comme and CH that are reaching for pearls.
Yohji Yamamoto's "Stormy Weather" collection for
Mikimoto is dark and moody, and Solange Azagury Partridge's
"Ball (meaning pearl, of course) Crusher Ring" is
another, erhm, intimidating beauty. At around £3,000,
it's an investment, but nothing near the £15,000 for
Tiffany
Aria necklace, and a steal compated to the £400,000
that Marie Antoinette's pearl necklace is set to fetch
at the Christie's auction on December 12th.
