Stressed? You aren't alone. Londoners work some of the longest hours in the world. A recent masseuse actually flipped out at how "tight" my neck was. What's more? I didn't even notice. We're all so used to being wound up, we wouldn't know how to relax, even if someone paid us to chill. |

Stress and anxiety manifests itself in many forms. While across the pond, they may prefer to pop pills like Xanax and Paxil to keep from freaking out. We, here in Blighty, generally like to medicate with our old friend, alcohol. But remember, kids, that just makes you ugly. In an effort to get us all to calm down without self-medicating - the
nice people at the Samaritans launched Stress Down Day, a whole day
dedicated to recognising the pressures in our lives. On the website,
there's a selection of procrastinating pleasures, like a stress test
to see how bad your office environment rates, a doodle analyser, as
well as some helpful suggestions for how to alleviate everyday anxiety.
Even better, the Samaritans are suggesting we all wear slippers to work
on Stress Day. |

Now, as you'd probably guess, the UJ office is slippers-friendly year-round. But, for those of you who work in stuffier offices, we suggest you take the Samaritans up on the challenge. If your boss gets narky, threaten to take "stress leave". That'll show 'em. Stress
