Who needs stuffy St
Moritz? Or over-the-top Aspen? Londoners who are really serious about
winter sports go to Snowdome, the massive indoor winter wonderland located
a short drive away in Staffordshire. Only an hour and a half hour away
from North London, it's the perfect retreat when you wake up Saturday
mornings craving a little piste. England's answer to the Alps includes ski and snowboarding lessons and has recently opened an ice skating rink for those of you who don't want to brave the rain of Somerset House's outdoor Rink. For singles looking for some action on the slopes, Snowdome also hosts Friday evening soirées with activities ranging from skiing and snowboarding to tobogganing and tubing (don't try this in a skirt), including warming after-dinner Schnapps, a live DJ, two course meal and a late bar open 'til 1 am. Sure the slopes of Switzerland may be sexier, but Snowdome parties offer all the excitement of the mountains, without the runny nose. For more info check out their website at www.snowdome.co.uk EC |
Does skiing down an artificial slope seem a tad tame? Want something a little more gory? Spain's Teatro Corsario is putting on quite a spectacle with Vampyria at the ICA tonight at 8pm as part of the London International Mime Festival. Until Sunday at the ICA, The Mall, SW1. 020 7930 3647 for tickets. | ||

links: Staffordshire perhaps not the sexiest of locations for a little après-ski. Air France has its fares on sale until January 28. |
