People watching... is there any other sport?
Throw on the shades and engage in a little people watching. Photo: Joachim Baldauf for Wallpaper* Nov 99
London Fashion Week is quickly approaching, and even if you're in NO WAY connected (be happy) it's a good excuse to break the routine and spice up your wardrobe.

If you don't know how to go about 'spicing', but are interested in fashion, my advice to you is to get out there and invest some time in a good game of people watching.
You may have to drop your shades, but 3-D glasses, no less, are handed out tonight at Cargo. Hexstatic mixes tunes for the Solid Steel DJ series and serves up visuals in 3-D Technicolor at this one-stop entertainment center complete with bar and restaurant. £7 admission to DJ session. 7pm-1am tonight at Cargo, Kingsland Viaduct, 83 Rivington St, EC2.
If it's The Face and Dazed 'scruffy as you like 'em' crew that you're hoping to spot on your spectating tour, head over to the Julie Verhoeven show, where the finger on the pulse fashion pack are sure to flock. (Julie's the one who put the bright appliquéd nativity-ish scenes on Vuitton bags).

Check out her illustrations, some of which have never been seen before, and get a preview of what's to come when her Gibo store opens on Conduit St mid-February.

And if you were hoping to run into the 'Well-Heeled-Blow Dry' crew, you should head over to the Design Museum to pay homage to the Patron Saint of Shoes, Manolo Blahnik.

You know Blahnik - the first person Sarah Jessica Parker thanks in every award ceremony. In his first solo exhibition, which he helped curate himself, Blahnik's career from the 70s until now is on display - each section focusing on a decade of his greatness.

The exhibition also tries to dissect the myth, by looking at everything from his sketches to the final product - to find out why the glitterati claim these shoes are comfortable - à la SJP two days before birth in four-inch stilettos. Sorry sweetie, they can't be that comfortable.

So, find a pair of dark shades, dress nondescript, and get out there with the fashion rat pack this weekend to do a little people watching.

If all this people watching has thrown you a little off balance, you only need to cab it down to 59 South Molton St for a quick fix. Sen's spanking new store is built according to Feng Shui principles and offers qualified advice on their range of traditional Chinese medicine. Or simply a spot to knock down a few herbal teas from the health bar while watching the 'Chinese fancy' goldfish. Not so different from the creatures outside, really.

The shoes may test your credit limit but do get a copy of his drawings from Amazon
The herbal teas didn't do the trick? Maybe a trip from Opodo will.
