Fashion Report
Get a whiff of fashion, New York style. Kneepads recommended.
New York, New York. Never have I seen more blowouts, Blahniks or big fat furs.

The Big Apple is really the city of carcasses. Anna Wintour, legendarily fierce editor of Vogue, even has a team of three bodyguards to protect her Fendi fox fur from those pesky PETA activists.
This weekend is for the lads as the Designer Warehouse Sale puts menswear on its racks. Marc Jacobs, Helmut Lang and others at 60+% off. Opens today at 10am-8pm and goes on until Sunday. £2 entry. The Worx, 45 Balfe St, N1.
Hysteric Glamour can also be found closer to home as Ali Mahdavi opens at Scout Gallery, 1-3 Mundy St, N1. 11am-6pm Tues-Sat until March 15.
There is a distinct whiff of shit throughout the tents at Bryant Park, where most of the catwalk shows are held. You'd think it was the pint-size pooches under every model's arm, but, in fact, all the arse-licking is seriously affecting the atmosphere. There isn't a clean nose in the crowd and it ain't just the white stuff, baby. Glenda Bailey, the super-sweet editor of Harpers Bazaar can't sit down without squashing a few faces.

New York is great for getting celebrities out to the shows. So far, we've seen Kim Catrall and Chloe Sevigny, in stunning white at Michael Kors; Sophia Coppola, Claire Danes and Jefferson Hack at Marc Jacobs and Macy Gray and our favourite, Kelly Osborne, in fluffy Chanel earmuffs squeezed in the front row of P. Diddy's Sean John show Saturday night.

Right, I'm here to cover the clothes. Well, next winter, if designers have their way, you'll either be wearing 80s style 'streetwalker' sexy leather separates--like tight trousers at Catherine Malandrino or supershort leather minis at Michael Kors, 60s Mod/Beatnick looks with super-short minis (again) pinafore dresses, poloneck sweaters and opaque tights at Marc Jacobs and Tommy Hilfiger or borrowed-from-boyfriend oversize ponchos, sportcoats, motorcycle jackets and jeans.

Then again, who are we kidding? Next winter, you'll be wearing a black coat, big Gap bag and boots like the rest of us.

Remember Julian and Sophie with the London Fashion Week T's? Avoiding any unpleasant whiffs at the LFW, they're spending the duration of it in bed. Write Julian for an invitation to their suite at the Great Eastern Hotel, Liverpool St, EC2, and view their A/W 'Pyjama Combat' collection.
