The art of the callback
Take charge of your own identity

Gentlemen picture this. It's closing time, the beer goggles are on, and your target for the evening is finally closing in for the kill. A digit exchange - YES! You won't die alone.

But, the cards are stacked against you! Your mobile has run out of batteries, the bartender refuses to share his pen (prick!), and any attempt to memorize numbers is futile considering your inebriated state.

Sour Milk, Shadow and Phasing: CandoCo's UK tour brings them to the Royal Festival Hall tonight and tomorrow night with their triple bill of contemporary dance. Exciting and thought-provoking as disabled and non-disabled dancers interweave. 7:45pm. Belvedere Road, SE1. £11-15. 020 7960 4242 or here.

Wait - your business card! Perfect. But, bugger, it lists your true job description (so you aren't really a CEO), your real name (you're not related to Jarvis Cocker, either) and your registered postcode (NW5 - that's NOT Belgravia!).

Well done you. Don't bother changing your sheets cause you can kiss that callback goodbye.

Not a good situation, but a very valuable lesson all the same. Always tell the truth. Bullshit. The honest guy sleeps alone. The point is if you're going to elaborate on the truth (who me?) then make sure you have the machinery to back it up.

And I know just the ones to arm you with the goods - Nitcards. For 100 Euros (cheaper than a cheap date) Nitcards will design and print 100 of your very own social cards. Give Nitcards your picture for the card, or leave it up to them to get a little creative.

Don't let another callback pass you by. Be who you want to be! In charge of your own destiny! Check out www.nitcards.com (the website is in Spanish, but you'll figure it out) or email pedidos@nitcards.com (they speak English) to hook yourself up with a new identity.

The title alone makes you want to pay this new exhibition a visit, if only to stroke your self-esteem. You Look Beautiful Like That is a fascinating collection capturing often amusing moments as Mali villagers dress up to the nines to look their best. Free. 10am-6pm. Porter Gallery at the National Portrait Gallery, St Martin's Place, WC2.
