Why does a great day of shopping on South Molton Street always have to be ruined with nowhere to drink? Sure, there's Costa Coffee (no booze) and those strange Ye Olde English pubs overflowing with gaping tourists, but there is no place really civilised, if you get my drift - and Claridges is such a trek, even in the shopping heels. |
Another fine addition to the West End restaurant scene: Fino opens today. This lively Spanish tapa restaurant is the first collaboration from brothers and hospitality industry veterans Sam and Eddie Hart. Dainty food, and extensive wine menu and digestible prices with fixed set express lunches for £12. 33 Charlotte St, W1. Book on 020 7813 8010 | ||
Khew to the rescue! Launching this Saturday, London's newest restaurant/bar combo is sure to please the shopping set. Spread over two floors, Khew is a South Molton snob's paradise. Laugh at badly-dressed Essex girls from the comfort of the Raw Bar, the sweeping black granite cocktail and sushi bar at street level. For those seeking further solace, venture downstairs to the cosy banquettes in the lower level restaurant and bar (open until 3am). Boasting Paul Day, an ex-Nobu chef, Khew's eclectic mix of Oriental cuisine, taking inspiration from China, Japan and Thailand, is sure to add a little dining class to one of London's best streets. Phew! Thank God for Khew! Khew, opens Saturday March 8 TR |
