Julie and Richard (of Red Lion Pub acclaim) know a little something about how to attract a crowd with the 'C' factor, and their most recent joint venture, the George and Dragon, is no exception. Since its opening day, the fashion pack (and not the poser pack) have flocked here in droves - which is quite a feat, considering these hipsters are not the easiest group to please. |
Further down Hackney Road you will find Stunners at 291 Gallery. This installation of live performances and interactive video should get some attention for Hydra, a group of artists suffering from attention deficit disorder. 8pm. 291 Hackney Rd, E2. £3.
Further east, 'Daying', a group exhibition opens at the Transition Gallery. Noon-6pm. 110a Lauriston Rd, E9. 0794 120 8566.
For industry gossip, this place is better than Popbitch and Heat magazine combined. Lend an ear to any table and hear who's sleeping with who (NO!), how a certain band rose to the top (Gasp!), and which magazine is tipped to be handing out the next round of P45s. With Hazel and Pablo (aka the designers from House of Jazz) DJing Tuesdays, and Johnny, the six foot glamazon transvestite, entertaining on Sundays, this isn't your average boozer. So, grease up that mullet and dust off those metallic trainers, 'cause don't you think it's time you met the Dragon? And don't miss Illustrating Pandemonium, brought to you by renowned Central Saint Martins Professor of Illustration, Neil Gilkes, on Sunday, March 23, 6:00-10:30pm The George and Dragon TR |
After hitting the big time Stateside, Dirty Vegas is trying to drum up some enthusiasm at home. They hit the Astoria on their UK tour tonight at 7:30pm. 157 Charing Cross Road, WC2. £10 tickets available online.
