Go alternative
Stand out, go alternative. Original image by Ed Honowitz

If you fancy yourself as the best dressed person you know, get yourself down to Old Spitalfields Market.

This week they are hosting Alternative Fashion Week, which will hopefully be much better than the real thing.

If you want the genuine thing and don't mind handing over the moolah to get it, then head down to 50-51 Conduit St, W1 where Voyage Couture is opening with a big bash today.

Running until this Friday March 21, Alternative Fashion Week is an event for new designers to be discovered. Hard on the heels of New York, Paris and Milan, London's Alternative Fashion Week brings out the most original and creative collections.

This year fifty young designers have been selected to show their work. Fashion shows are held daily at 1:15pm to live contemporary jazz. Ten different designers are shown each day.

Original textiles are also a major feature of the event. There's womenswear, menswear, headwear, footwear, workwear, leisurewear, underwear, fetishwear and fantasywear. There will also be a fashion market open daily from 12 noon to 3pm with stalls selling an exotic range of clothes, textiles and accessories.

Admission is free so you should have enough money to spend on something that you just can't live without.
