It's all in the wrist action. Dita von Teese at the Wet by Beefeater New York launch

Mixing cocktails is all in the wrist action (not unlike another popular pastime).

And nobody does it better than King Cocktail himself - the legendary New York bartender, Dale De Groff.

This is sales weekend: Designer Sale UK has mens and womenswear at 40-90% off. Noon-9pm. Studio 95, The Old Truman Brewery, Brick Lane, E1. £2 admission.
For more womenswear, head over to Designer Warehouse Sales. 60% and more off on your favourite fashion labels. 10am-8pm. The Worx, 45 Balfe St, N1. £2.

In his first book, 'The Craft of the Cocktail', De Groff recalls a classic pearl of wisdom from a New York bar owner who says: "When I read about the evils of drink, I gave up reading." Couldn't agree with you more, Mister.

De Groff, who used to work at New York's Rainbow Room, is the man who created the Cosmopolitan and has become the world's first global cocktail consultant, giving master classes to staff and clientele.

Now we in London can taste his sweet genius. Since being appointed the 'Director of Drinks' for the Match Bar group in London, De Groff has created a drinks menu for the Match Bar, Match EC1, Sosho, and our favourite, The Player.

The Player now issue its patrons with a cheque-book sized list of concoctions, which includes a retrospective feature on the Martini - from the 1860s to today. And for the international jet-set, they offer a selection of classics served with three grades of premium spirits - economy, business or first class.
