Nice rack
Nice rack - size isn't everything. Magazine rack by Guglielmo Berchicci
Want something sleek and foreign lying around your bedroom?

Magazines are our new bibles. Just as serious foodies wouldn't dream of scoffing down store-bought cake, mere plebs may be satisfied on a diet of Vogue, Tank and Creative Review, but true style-snobs like to have something a little more exotic scattered across the flat.

"Jerry, Jerry, Jerry". No fancy magazines as the stage is handed over to our favourite trailer trash hero: Jerry Springer - The Opera has its world premiere tonight. After a Fringe success run, Jerry becomes the first new opera ever to open at the National Theatre. 7:45pm. South Bank, SE1. £12-32. Book on 020 7452 3000 or online.

Here's a selection of little-known and cult magazines to impress the visitors with your savoir-faire.

SEED - www.seedmagazine.com
A slick new title with offices in Montreal and New York that attempts to pull science out of the laboratory and into design based culture. Geek-chic never had it so good.

The Fader - www.thefader.com
Another tongue-in-cheek music/style/culture mag, but this one is actually a) informative b) funny and c) well-written.

Blank:: - www.blank.cl
Latin American picture book. Cool Chilean mag with beautiful images. Definitely worthwhile, even if you can't understand the copy.

Sleek Magazine - www.sleekmag.com
Bring on the gloss. You really shouldn't be living without this gem - beautiful photography.

Metropolis - www.metropolismag.com
Art/architecture/design. Intelligent editorial and great graphics. Superman would be impressed.

Scandinavian Living - www.scandinavianliving.com
Oh to live like those Scandis. Evolved from the too-cool-to-be-sustainable Copenhagen Living, this slick journal-sized quarterly will hopely have a longer life span.

Most magazines available at RD Franks, Kent House, Market Place, W1
