The Gathering
No place like home. Invite some new-found friends over for a key party, 'The Ice Storm'-style

Staying in is the new going out. Allegedly.

If you thought that the 70s were the halcyon days of home entertaining, think again because an estimated 313 million dinner parties were held in Britain last year.

And 'The Gathering Club' is here to surf that sociable zeitgeist.

50-80% off at Burro's sample sale. From today until Sunday. 10:30am-7pm. 29 Floral St, WC2.
For a dose of red carpet glamour, top frocks and expensive rocks, dress up to the nines and head to tonight's Classical Brit Awards at Royal Albert Hall. 8pm. Kensington Gore, SW7. £15-75. 020 7589 8212 quoting 'BPI'.

The brainchild of 90s PR guru WilmaMae who has turned her attention from bigging up high profile Hollywood players and projects to bigging up the joys of the home.

The Gathering is designed as an exclusive collective of people keen to entertain at home and expand their social circle. Each month a cocktail party will he hosted in a central location for founding members and their guests, until they make enough new mates to invite round for a little soirée of their own.

Wilma stresses that it is not a dating or swinging club, whilst mentioning that specially selected companies will be given the opportunity to sponsor a "gathering of members"... As it were!

So if anyone fancies a trip up to Streatham for a bottle of Lambrini, give us a shout.
