Are you board of the city? Want to wave bye-bye to it all for a few days - and hang (ten) with some cool dudes? Well, if you're not off with the hippies this weekend at Womad or Pride partying with the boyz, you could venture South West for the Rip Curl Boardmasters Surf Championships. |

Don't miss the chance to hear Andrew Roachford put on an acoustic set at Kemia Bar to launch his new album. From 7pm, gig at 9:30. Downstairs at Momo, 25 Heddon St, W1. Free on guest list before 10pm.
Catch the winners of the Ian Parry competition at Tom Blau from today. 10am-6pm. 21 Queen Elizabeth St, SE1. Free.
Not only can you live out Baywatch fantasies strolling Fistral Beach, you can also enter the Miss Reef Bikini competition. It's great to see surf bunnies being taken seriously at last. Besides all that excitement there's kitesurfing, volleyball (mind those syringes in the sand, buff boy!), skating (in case - or rather when - the water's too cold) and, of course, a spot of surfing to be seen. It's the only leg of the ASP tour that comes to the UK so you'll see some famous faces, lots of blonde hair and perma-tans - which might be fun. So if you're willing to give up your high-maintenance city-ways head south for a few days and escape the rat race for some sand, sea and surfers! Rip
