Say Cheese
Smile, you're on camera

I can't take a photo to save my life. I always enter Snappy Snaps with great expectations, only to leave with my tail between my legs.

I suck. How can pushing a button be so difficult?

Smooth-talking raconteur Alan Francis is working the Soho Theatre tonight. 8pm. 21 Dean St, W1. £10. 020 7478 0100.
BAC let's you pay what you can to see Family Matters, a contemporary opera by the brilliant experimental group Tête à Tête. 7:30pm. Lavender Hill, SW11.

Obviously the A-list aren't quite as photographically challenged, because celebs from every profession seem to be trying their hand at photography, and the worst part is, they seem to be pretty good at it, too.

Take Mr Bryan Adams. Who knew that a husky voice and a feathered mop would translate into Sunday Times Style-worthy photos? But they did.

And now Helena Christensen's having a go. Gone are the days of rice cakes and Perrier, this Glamazon is taking a step back - behind the camera, that is.

Although she's been at it for a while, this is her first solo exhibition and to commemorate this momentous occasion, Helena's taken some snaps of her friends in Levi's.

However, these aren't going to be shots of the mingers in her crew. Expect to see how 501s hang on the likes of Orlando Bloom and Robbie Williams. I think it's safe to say her photo album is going to be prettier than mine.

Helena Christensen: People and Portraits at Proud Central
5 Buckingham Street, WC2.
Preview tonight 7-9pm - open to the public from 5 September 11am-6pm.
