Down the Local
Watch thy neighbour down the local

Besides the deep house, intimate atmosphere and friendly vibe, one of the most satisfying parts of the legendary Lazy Dog in Notting Hill was that you didn't have to leave West London to get there.

It may smell like fish but it's not your girlfriend. The Hay's Galleria kicks off the annual Oyster & Seafood Fair. 11am-7pm. London Bridge City, Tooley Street, SE1. Free.
Cool electronica tonight at the Serpentine with MIMEO (Movement In Mouvement Electronic Orchestra). 7pm. Kensington Gardens, W2. £5. 08700 600 100.

The best Sunday night in London never failed to deliver the trademark blend of soulful and funky house that made the Ben Watt and Jay Hannan album releases instant classics.

The whole vibe was local; no super-club t-shirts here. A night at Lazy Dog was like that basement party of your dreams - great music, no attitude and no glow sticks. So imagine the anguish when it all came to an end in April, followed by the end of his Cherry Jam residency. Luckily for us though, this was just a breather for Ben Watt.

First came the launch of his new label Buzzin' Fly, and tonight Notting Hill will get its first major club opening in 15 years. 'Neighbourhood', the former Subterania nightclub, will reopen - refreshed, redecorated and sporting a state of the art sound system.

Alongside Watt, expect regular appearances by Groove Armada, Ian Pooley and Sir Piers. Think of it as a basement that can hold 600 of your closest friends.

Neighbourhood - Launch festival starts tonight Friday September 5
