Surfing, and more specifically, kitesurfing, has become mainstream. Invented by the French and perfected by the Hawaiians, kitesurfing involves strapping a board to your feet and controlling a power kite as you skim over the water and grab "huge air". Imagine snowboarding on water pulled at top speed by an inflatable kite. Intrigued? A simple two-day course, offered in many seaside towns, will teach you enough to get you up and moving. Take advantage of the Indian summer, cheap flights, and empty beaches and give it a go. If you prefer taking on the role as spectator, the Body Glove European Championships take place in Tarifa, Spain (nearest airport Malaga) next week September 27-October 5. CB |
