The Newspaper Magazine believes that "more and more footballers are crossing over into a fashion/lifestyle context and becoming the new style icons". The bi-annual publications, which will feature footballers as models, plans to present footballers in an "intelligent and positive way".

A steep order, some might say, considering the kind of press footballers have been getting lately. But with writers like Nick Foulkes, Amy Raphael and Joanne Glasbey on the masthead, an editorial director like Peter Howarth (former editor of Esquire and Arena) at the helm, and England international defender Sol Campbell on the cover, they may just have a chance.

Now, could they do something about those hooligans in the stands.
