Ghetto Santa
Cover of Dread Zeppelin's First No Elvis - Birdcage Records 1995. Available from Amazon

So you thought Santa was a lovable old man based in the North Pole. Think again.

It seems that good old Mr Claus is hangin' with his homies, smokin' dem Jamaican woodbines and flogging urban art.

After a sell-out season last year, Matt Bourne's version of the classic Nutcracker! is back at Saddler's Wells. 7:30pm. Rosebery Avenue, EC1. £8-45. 0870 737 7737

Only three months late, the burgers at the Savoy's new Marcus Wareing diner-style Banquette should still be fresh and juicy as it opens shop today. The Strand, WC2. 020 7836 4343.

Welcome to Santa's Ghetto. As it says on the website, the temporary shop is a "festive extravaganza of cheap art and related novelty goods from low-brow artists and trained vandals". Recognise talent such as Banksy, Mode 2, Jamie Hewlett, Pete Fowler and Faile? Thought not. That's maybe why the site's motto is "art for everybody made by nobodies".

Which isn't strictly true. Pete Fowler is the resident illustrator for the Super Furry Animals, while Jamie Hewlett is responsible for sketching Tank Girl into existence and drawing the Gorillaz into the music charts.

Everyone involved has a colourful past. From New York fly postering legends Faile, to Mode 2 - the aerosol artist who became the Michelangelo of the Graffiti world with his crew 'The Chrome Angelz' in the 1980s.

So take a visit and sit on Santa's lap. He might give you something unexpected.
