If you haven't heard, Damon Dash (Roc-A-Fella founder/Madame Beckham hanger-oner) doesn't wear his Nike's twice. No seriously. The second his feet come out of a pair, they're banished from his pieds forever. Why you ask? 'Cause they've lost their freshness of course. |

As audacious as this sounds, it would be even harder to digest if he didn't give the kicks immediately to charity - but that still doesn't change the fact that it's pretentious as hell. There are, however, saner methods of re-inventing trainers - I think Mr Dash could do with an introduction to the Foot Patrol make-over. Hoodwink, a design collective, which specialise in sprucing up sneakers, launch Heavy on Hardware this week at Foot Patrol. The collection features a selection of Nike sneakers, individually customised by Hoodwink. Highlights include grey leather Nike Terminators with silver chains draped across the heel and an appliquéd silver swoosh, white leather Nike Air Forces with embedded crystals at the front, and a rhinestone-encrusted solid silver ID chain sweeping the heel, as well as a pair of sneakers completely overlaid in gold leaf . You can leave your sneaker purchases to be customised, or take in your old smelly ones for some serious HARDWARE treatment. |
