Go South
Southbound dinner

I know you've been meaning to take the boat down to Greenwich forever. Well now there's no excuse not to get off the couch and do so.

Today sees the launch of INC - a former music hall that's been converted into a rather louche bar and restaurant - causing quite a stir in the area.

Eschewing the minimalism which seems to have dominated bar and restaurant design for ever, the interior is inspired by the 'slum and splendour' of Georgian and Victorian Greenwich, which apparently was teeming with brothels and dens of various vice.

The early 19th century shell of the music hall has been restored and updated and several of Britain's most celebrated artists have contributed to the glamorous décor. 'Moving art' is displayed on cleverly tucked away plasma screens, while other screens are linked to webcams so you can see what's going on in other areas of the bar.

Laurence Llewelyn Bowen is responsible for the interior, which includes a specially commissioned 'Dowling Tartan' wallpaper in one bar and some rather choice 18th century hand-drawn pornography prints - elegantly depicting 'Shaggers and Shaggees' - in another.

The plush lavatories are themed 'heaven and hell', while the food is decribed as 'innovative and modern' - but then it always is isn't it? You'll just have to check it out yourself next time you're 'dahn sarf eest Laahndaan' geyser!
