Don't drop 'em

Apparently, it will "capture the essence of the excitement of the show". What, the odour of inflated egos, fanatical fame-seeking and talentlessness? And that's just the judges. Or could it be the stench of dignity-free teens crapping themselves in front of a Saturday night TV audience? Can't see that flying off the shelves in Boots, can you?

Rather it might be fun to imagine what each Pop Idol might smell like. Michelle - of super-sized chips, sweaty tears and over-exaggerated shrieking? And what about poor Gareth - reeking of stutter-induced public sympathy? And cheap hair gel.

Alas, it's only Will who will come up smelling of roses, and indeed the one least likely to endorse this bottled evil.
