Once inside, however, it took me about two seconds to realise I loved the cosy shoebox and about another two 'til I was jockeying for my position on the speakers.

Not many choose to change a recipe that works, but owners Alan Grant and Ben Watt have always been about 'shakin' it up' and it's in this vein that they decided to give Cherry Jam a bit of a refurb.

The former 'get down' haunt has been transformed into a plush lounge bar/ restaurant - the theory being that people can groove at Neighbourhood (owned by the same two) around the corner and come here to eat, drink, listen to good tunes and hear themselves think.

Although I am excited to see the new look, I must say that I am also a bit sad. Growing so fond of Cherry Jam over the past two years, I just hope that the new face lives up to the old spirit.
